EAGLE TO RE-RELEASE TOP SELLING DVDS ON SEPTEMBER 25

September 13, 2007

EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT RE-RELEASES

THREE TOP SELLING DVDS:

MARVIN GAYE’S GREATEST HITS: LIVE IN ’76

MARIANNE FAITHFULL: DREAMING MY DREAMS (DOCUMENTARY)

DEEP PURPLE:  IN CONCERT WITH THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

TO BE RELEASED: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

Eagle Rock Entertainment, on September 25, will re-release three of its most popular DVDs, Marvin Gaye’s Greatest Hits:  Live in ’76, a powerful Marianne Faithfull documentary, Dreaming My Dreams, that includes an interview with Rolling Stone Keith Richards, and Deep Purple In Concert With The London Symphony Orchestra Conducted By Paul Mann.

Marvin Gaye (1939-1984) was one of the architects of modern soul music. His suave crooning, his falsetto, his sexy stage demeanor, and his unerring sense of the inherent drama within each and every one of his songs made him a superstar before his tragic death at the young age of 45 at the hand of his own father. There exists today precious little complete concerts on film for this most revered artist.

Recorded live at Edenhalle Concert Hall in Amsterdam, Holland during Gaye’s first European tour, this 23-song hour (retail: $12.49) power-packs a lifetime of great R’n’B into one stellar performance. Classics like “Let’s Get It On,” “Ain’t That Peculiar,” “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” and “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” are juxtaposed against Gaye’s more topical material that he wrote as he gained political awareness later in his career (“Inner City Blues [Makes Me Wanna Holler],” “Save The Children” and “What’s Happening.”).

Dreaming My Dreams (retail: $12.49)  is an intimate hour-long look behind-the-scenes at the life and career of British singer/actress Marianne Faithfull.  Catapulted into fame with her vulnerable and touching cover of a Jagger/Richards composition, “As Tears Go By,” she was a big part of the early Rolling Stone oeuvre, nestling comfortably into the lives of both Mick and Keith. Battling drug abuse throughout the ‘70s, her triumphant artistic return, 1979’s Broken English, was a landmark recording and one of the year’s best.

Faithfull’s demons, though, did not disappear. She has been upfront about her rough life, yet has continued to surprise artistically, performing with a dramatically diverse array of artists from Pink Floyd to Metallica. This heralded 1999 inside look comes complete with a 30-minute concert performance, material about her childhood and family (including her marriage to avant-garde artist John Dunbar), historical video footage dating back to 1964, and interviews with Richards, Faithfull, as well as Maggie Mayall and other friends and family members.

Deep Purple In Concert With The London Symphony Orchestra Conducted By Paul Mann (retail: $12.49) has this most classic of Classic Rock bands blowing the roof off the famed Royal Albert Hall in London, England a full 30 years after their first symphonic project. Keyboardist Jon Lord, Singer Ian Gillan, drummer Ian Paice, guitarist Steve Morse and bassist Roger Glover perform 13 tracks in two hours, with heavy accents on improvisation and even a guest shot by the legendary Ronnie James Dio!

The above-mentioned releases are included in the Eagle Vision Classics collection of budget line DVDs specially priced at $12.49.  Eagle Vision Classics is a subsidiary of Eagle Rock Entertainment.

Eagle Rock Entertainment develops, acquires and produces music programming for a wide range of notable and high profile artists, which the company distributes on a worldwide basis. Eagle Rock Entertainment, Eagle Vision and Eagle Eye Media are wholly owned divisions of Eagle Rock Group, LTD.

?
?
On Monday August 27, 2007 golfers from across Toronto gathered at the prestigious St. George?s Golf and Country Club in Toronto, Ontario to participate in the Third Annual National Junior Golf Academy Invitational Golf Classic.? Thanks to generous donations made by the corporate sector, close to $100,000 was raised at the event.? Ten Canadian Tour professionals were in attendance at the event and presented the NJGA a cheque for $10,000 raised through their ?Birdies For Kids? program.? Proceeds raised at the event will be used for the ongoing development and future expansion of the National Junior Golf Academy, a unique weekly program that uses golf as a force for good, with the rules and etiquette of the game instrumental in helping inner city youth develop life skills.
?
Great weather and an immaculately maintained golf course aside, the highlight of the day?s events came that evening when past PGA great Calvin Peete delivered a heartfelt speech reminding the participants that the day was not only about golf but was about giving inner city children an opportunity to reach for their dreams.
?
The National Junior Golf Academy was launched at the Driftwood Community Center in the fall of 1999 by local Toronto businessman Kingsley Rowe.? The program is designed to reach across the Greater Toronto area.? The NJGA is a volunteer non profit organization that has established a program in which inner city youth learn the life lessons of integrity, respect, honesty, decorum and etiquette through the rules of golf.

Music: Corneille Joins the Ranks of the Legendary Multinational

September 11, 2007

Music: Corneille Joins the Ranks of the Legendary Multinational
Motown Records!
?

Montreal, September 11, 2007? After having promoted his first English album, The Birth of Cornelius in Japan, France and Canada earlier this summer, Corneille is now preparing for the official U.S. release of the album. It is now official; Corneille is joining his idols, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, by signing to the legendary Motown Records.
?
Motown Records was founded in 1960 in Detroit, and has nurtured the careers of some of the world?s greatest musical stars including Diana Ross and the Supremes, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson Five and Lionel Richie.? The label, now based in New York City, has had successes more recently with Erykah Badu and India Arie.
?
It is none other than Sylvia Rhone, president of Motown Records, who personally chose Corneille as a new artist. He is one of those very rare Canadian artists to have obtained a record contract with this famous label. This whole experience began several months ago at the Verre Bouteille in Montreal, during a special showcase Corneille performed for media and representatives from a number of multi-national record companies.? On the day following that performance, Corneille and his manager Kevin Canning received many interesting offers but it was his desire to be a Motown artist that led to Corneille signing to the roster and realizing his dream.
?
Upon announcing the signing, his manager declared: ?The Motown label fits Corneille like a glove, as much for his musical style as for the way he composes??, also: ??with partners such as Wagram France, DEJA Musique/ Warner Music Canada, Sony Music Japan as well as Motown Records in the United States, Corneille and his music could not have a better team to propel him to the level of the greatest international stars.?
?
?This is fantastic! I never thought that this dream would ever come true,? says Corneille. ??This proves that you should always believe in your wildest dreams! For me this represents an incredible recognition to be able to join the ranks of my idols.?
?
?Words cannot express how unreal this all feels. The little boy in me keeps pinching himself! Most of the artists who have shaped my path as a singer-songwriter (Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, among others) are part of the Motown institution. I am so honoured to know that my name has been added to that prestigious roster. This album, The Birth of Cornelius, is even more special to me now, since it is the one that has helped me make this dream come true.?
?
Corneille?s new album should be available in the U.S. at the beginning of 2008. ?
History has only just begun!

ALICIA kEYS PERFORMS ON FASHION ROCKS (9/7) AND MTV-US MUSIC VIDEO VMAS (9/9)

September 10, 2007

MULTI-PLATINUM, NINE-TIME GRAMMY AWARD WINNER ALICIA KEYS

SET TO RELEASE “AS I AM” WORLDWIDE ON NOVEMBER 13

THIRD STUDIO ALBUM FEATURES COLLABORATIONS WITH KERRY “KRUCIAL” BROTHERS, LINDA PERRY, JOHN MAYER, SWIZZ BEATZ AND MORE

PERFORMS ON FASHION ROCKS (9/7) AND MTV-US VMAS (9/9)

(New York, NY) - Nine-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys returns with her long-awaited third studio album, As I Am, set for a worldwide release on November 13 on J Records.  Within 10 hours of being serviced to radio, Alicia first single, “No One,” became one of the fastest moving and highest charting single on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.  This also marks the highest first single debut for a female artist in 2007 on the R&B Monitor’s Urban Mainstream chart!

“No One” was written and produced by Keys, longtime collaborator Kerry “Krucial” Brothers and Dirty Harry.  The Justin Francis/The Saline Project-directed video for “No One” was recently shot in LA and will premiere on national video outlets on September 17.

Her first studio album since the critically-acclaimed 2003’s The Diary of Alicia Keys, Alicia showcases her songwriting and producing talents on all 13 songs on As I Am, but also joins forces on several tracks with her longtime collaborator Kerry “Krucial” Brothers, award-winning songwriters Linda Perry, John Mayer, Harold Lilly, Sean Garrett and producers Mark Batson, Dirty Harry, Swizz Beatz and Jack Splash.

One of the few artists who can capture an old-school vibe and make if feel refreshingly new, Alicia tackles this feat once again with an album she describes as “Janis Joplin meets Aretha Franklin.”  Punctuated with rich powerful vocals, Alicia’s vocal muses can be felt on songs ranging from the anthemic “Superwoman” and power-charged “Go Ahead” to the misty-eyed ballad “Like You Never See Me Again” and the soulful “Sure Looks Good To Me.”

Tonight on CBS’s Fashion Rocks, Alicia mesmerizes the audience with a soul-stirring performance of “The Thing About Love” from As I Am and joins the incredible Carlos Santana in an amazing duet of “Black Magic Woman.”   Keys will also rock the MTV Video Music Awards on September 9 with a national televised debut performance of her new hit single “No One.”

Since the 2001 debut of Songs In A Minor, the New York native has built an unparalleled repertoire of hits and accomplishments with over 20 million albums sold worldwide!  Songs In A Minor, which spawned her signature hit “Fallin,” sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and garnered five Grammy Awards including Best New Artist and Best R&B Album.  Alicia’s follow-up disc, 2004’s The Diary of Alicia Keys, which is currently 7 times platinum, captured four Grammy Awards and featured the hits “If I Ain’t Got You,” “You Don’t Know My Name,” and “Karma.” With the 2005 release of Unplugged, which has sold 2 million copies, Keys became the first female R&B artist to have three consecutive #1 debuts on the Billboard 200 album chart in as many releases.
