U2’s The Edge Host Music Rising Auction Tour Event
CONS OF MUSIC AUCTION II TO BENEFIT MUSIC RISING
ON SATURDAY MAY 31, 2008 TO BE HELD AT
HARD ROCK CAFÉ NEW YORK
UNPRECEDENTED COLLECTION OF MUSIC MEMORABILIA TO BE OFFERED IN A LIVE AND TELEVISED AUCTION EVENT
Hosted by U2’s the Edge with special performance by Aaron Neville
New York, NY , April 24, 2008 — U2’s the Edge announced the Icons of Music Sale II to benefit Music Rising to be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Hard Rock Café New York in Times Square . This second annual auction event, hosted by Julien’s Auctions (www.juliensauctions.com), will offer one of the most significant collections of music memorabilia from many of music’s greatest legends with proceeds benefiting Music Rising (www.musicrising.org), a campaign co-founded by U2’s the Edge, legendary producer Bob Ezrin and Gibson Guitar Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz in 2005 to aid musicians of the Gulf Coast Region in regaining their livelihood after the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Four time Grammy Award winner Aaron Neville, who has joined the Music Rising campaign and helped bring major attention to some of the charity work being done in New Orleans today, will appear at the Icons of Music Sale II and perform at the evening session. Neville, who with his family, lost everything in the storms of Katrina brings a unique personal experience to Music Rising and will give guests a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness his great musicianship when he brings the spirit of New Orleans to the auction.
The ongoing efforts of Music Rising have thus far aided over 2,700 professional musicians and nearly 50,000 students and parishioners. The charity has been the recipient of numerous awards since its inception including the HALO 2005 Award for Cause Marketing, the 2006 Billboard Humanitarian Award and the 2008 PRISM Award. After the campaign received a Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund grant, former President Bill Clinton personally presented a Music Rising Gibson Les Paul guitar to a recipient in Baton Rouge as a symbol of Music Rising’s dedication to the region.
“No one could ever come close to repaying the debt to those who have established this form of music that we all take totally for granted, this hybrid of European melody and African-American rhythm that’s given us jazz and R&B and rock ‘n’ roll,” said the Edge.
“There’s something powerful about musicians giving instruments they own to an auction to aid musicians who are going through a particularly difficult time.”
“When the hurricanes first hit we knew we had to do something to help preserve the musical heritage of the Gulf Coast Region,” said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar. “We’ve been honored to work alongside some of the world’s greatest musical talents in our efforts to rebuild the Gulf Coast Region and to understand the needs of the people who were devastated by the hurricanes. This auction serves as a reminder of much work that still needs to be done in bringing back one of the world’s greatest regions.”
Bob Ezrin, legendary producer and one of the co-founder’s of the organization added “It is amazing to us that even after all this time there is still so much need for support in the Central Gulf – and so many schools, churches and community organizations are just now coming on line again. Music Rising will be here to provide the instruments and support they need until that need no longer exists, however long it takes.”
Amongst the donations from the Edge is his early stage played 1976 Gibson Explorer Guitar. Edge used this guitar in many stage performances since Joshua Tree as well as U2’s Music Video for “Beautiful Day” (est. $80,000 and up), his silver adjustable U2 block rings featured on the cover of Atchung Baby (est. $2,000/4,000), a blue Gibson Les Paul electric guitar used by Edge in many studio recordings(est. $20,000/40,000) and his personaly worn custom designed Converse shoes (est. $800/1,200) along with an assortment of property donated by his fellow band members to Music Rising.

Ever wonder why hip hop artists sell their soul to the devil for their albums
April 30, 2008
Ever wonder why hip hop artists sell their soul to the devil for their albums
ello Everyone;
I was researching “The Truth Behind Hip Hop” - DVD, from
I watched the DVD. In the DVD, the speaker says that the Satan made
Heavy Metal Music so that people would fully embrace him by this music. But Satan wasn’t happy because ‘brothers’ were not into heavy
metal. So he had to come up with a music that would reach brothers and spread out to all cultures - black , white, hispanic, asian etc.The speaker revealed some things that I will list below about hip hop artist.
I double-checked everything he said to make sure it’s all true.
I heard through other sources that DMX, Snoop Dogg and Tupac were rapping that they sold their souls to the devil. I wanted to
see if it was true.I went to a website called http://www.azlyrics.com and did a search to see what the rappers were saying about the devil.
Here is the information I learned..
Detail #1: Snoop Dog
————————–
In his autobiography “The Doggfather”, Snoop Dogg says the devil came to him to make a deal that he would be rich and famous in exchange for his soul. Snoop said yes and identifies that as the death of calvin broadus and the birth of snoop dogg.Detail #2: Tupac in his song “Good Life”
————————————–…
Tupac says he sold his soul to the devil.“I sold my soul for a chance to kick it and bang
Now tell if I’m wrong
but sayin “**** the world” got you deeper in my songs
Drinkin ’til I earl, spendin money ’til it’s gone
It’s the good life - maybe ****** got it goin on”“why I should change, into a softie
.. after living so loftily
It cost me my soul out of control in a devil’s world”Source: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/2pac/good…
Detail #3: I found what is DMX rap song lyrics.
————————————–…
DMX did a Song with MARILYN MANSON of all people. On the cover of his CD, DMX is dripped in blood with the M of his name conspicuously over his head to make it appear like he has horns out of his head. Your average hip hop listener may have missed this thing with marilyn manson. So I went to azlyric.com to check out the lyrics on DMX’s albums.
Here’s what I from 2 songs that DMX did.
A. FROM THE SONG “LET ME FLY”.
In this song, DMX explains that he sold his soul to the devil and exactly why he did it etc.
“I sold my soul to the devil, and the price was cheap A yo it’s cold on this level cause it’s twice as deep But you don’t hear me, ignorance is blisning and so on
Sometimes it’s better to be taught dumb
Shall I go on
You don’t want no real, what the deal is a mystery
How is it I can live and make history
If you don’t see it then it, wasn’t ment for you to see
If you wasn’t born wit’ it then, it wasn’t ment for you to be
But you can’t blame me for not wantin’ to be hound
lock down in a cell wit’ a soul gettin’ dwelled
This is hell, go get the devil and get me the key
but can’t be worst than the curse that was given ta me
It’s what I live for, you take away that and I’m gone ”Source: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dmx/letme…
B. FROM THE SONG “THE OMEN” That he did with Marilyn Manson.
If you read the lyrics on www.azlyrics.com, you will notice that There is a Duet Going on Between DMX and someone else. The person doing the duet with DMX is in paragraphs.
Let’s see if you can figure out who the duet is with.“(You, right here shorty, told you, I got you Like the way I scooped
you, when those ****** ****** shot you? I’ma hold you down, and I mean that, for real)But everytime you beef with a *****, I end up havin’ to kill
(Ain’t like that, and hey, forget about them 2 kids ‘Bout to do a deal, somethin’ nice as you is)
Oh you think
(Nah, I’m just playin’, what’s up?
I got some new bitches, I know you tryin’ to ****)
Not really ”By the end of the song you know exactly who is doing the Duet
“Here we go again
(After what I just gave you, with you actin’ like that when you asked for that favor)
Yo, I ain’t ask you for ****
(Oh yes you did, when you really needed something, and you was out, you did You sold me your soul, )”
That was a duet between DMX and Satan.
And marilyn manson was singing this on the chorus.“Here we are on our way to hell
We’re gonna do it, and we do it wellThis is Marilyn Manson, Dmx, Ruff Ryders
[repeats and distorts til end]”Source: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dmx/theom…
That was supposed to be a duet with the devil. It probably was. If it was another rapper doing the part in parentheses , then it would have said the rapper’s name.
Detail #4: Color Me Bad’s
—————————-
The Group “Color Me Bad” had a hit single “I wanna sex you up”. The Ex-member Kevin, gave his life to christ and admitted that in the studio the members of Color Me Bad, did a witches spell over the CD so that they would have a hit record and that hundreds of thousands of girls would lose their virginity to this song.Source: “The Truth Behind Hip Hop” DVD http://www.exministries.com
Detail #5: Bone Thugs and Harmony
————————————–…
From the DVD, I learned, Bone Thugs and Harmony had a witchcraft curse at the back of their CD. it’s written backwards so once a person recognizes that, they will
naturally hold it up to a mirror and try to read it.
The speaker on the DVD, researched it and discovered that the witches of salem, would send them a letter written backwards when they wanted to put a curse on someone. the person would hold it up to the mirror
and read it backwards.Source: “The Truth Behind Hip Hop” DVD - http://www.exministries.com
Detail #6: JAY Z ’s song HOVA
——————————From azlyrics;
“Hova the God, I should be rappin with turban”“I consistantly take em out the park like Ken Griffey
Do you believe? It’s Hova the God”He’s saying that he is J-Hovah or Jehovah from the bible.
Source: “The Truth Behind Hip Hop” DVD http://www.exministries.com
Source:Detail #7: Ja Rule
———————-
In the song “the Only Begotten”, Ja Rule Raps about putting a Slug in Godin his song
” dont know whether to hug
Or to fill you with slugs”Source: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/jarule/on…
But in another of his rap song “Survival of the Illest ” the
intro, he says this that he loves the devil“Love the devil and women I keep em sinnin”
Source: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/jarule/su…
Detail #8: Ride or Die Music
———————————
There’s a lot of rap songs out there about ‘Ride or Die’ at one of the presentations by G. Craig Lewis of www.exministries.com, a 15 year old came
up to the altar and said he doesn’t want to have anything to do with hip hop
any more and he wants to give his life to Jesus Christ. He went and got his
Sawed off Shot gun and gave it to G. Craig Lewis and said he doesn’t know how many people he shot with it. The 15 year old said, regular teenagers can’t kill in cold blood like that. The way they would do it is to listen to Gangsta Rap music for about 20 minutes then they are ready to kill anybody.Source: “the Truth behind hip hop” DVD
Closing Thoughts:
——————
It turns out Satan was not happy that Heavy Metal was not reaching ‘Brothers’. So he created that Hip Hop to reach ‘brothers’ and cross all kinds of ethnic & cultural barriers.Hip Hop is not ‘our’ music. It is the devil’s music. He wants the people in the club to recognize him and adore him. When people dance to his music and his artist, they are dancing to the devil’s beats, songs and ideals. Gangsta Rap pretty much started with Snoop Dogg who sold his soul to the devil and took off - now everybody is crazy
about making hard gangsta beats like Dr. Dre. All the beats in hip hop have to be hard - just the way the devil wants it. You can’t put out a album now unless it’s got a touch of gangsta or that ying yang krunck sound like the beats for “Only you” by Ashanti or “Can you keep up” beyonce.Gangsta beats put you in that frame of mind to do what the devil wants, bumpin and grinding in the clubs, drinkin moet and crystal and sex with everything that passes by. That’s the devil’s way. That’s why at many of these concerts they perform or fake sex acts on stage (Example: Luke, R.Kelly, Ying Yang twins and more ). Before Ja Rule’s concerts they chant Murda’ Murda’ before they start the song. At the end of Ja Rule’s concerts, they have an angel hanging from the ceiling flapping it’s wings chanting
‘Murda’ Murda’. What’s that angel? what’s that about?
Now you know The Truth Behind Hip Hop.
Satan tried to make the same deal with Jesus Christ when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness. The bible says
Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Matthew 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou
wilt fall down and worship me.
Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is
written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serveDo you want to be with hip hop or with God?
WTF?
Music doesn’t make a person worship God or the devil. Attitude toward religion does that. Your bible quotes don’t back up your argument at all. Take your religious soap box somewhere else.
Well just because most mainstream hiphop sucks, if not all of the recent stuff, does not mean all of it sucks. There are some wonderful hiphop and rap artists from way back when that actually made their music with effort, not simply in the hopes of making money, but also to inspire and such. Artists such as Eric B. & Rakim, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, A Tribe Called Quest (who were great at story telling), Public Enemy. These guys aren’t exactly what I’d call crap, although I agree completely with you on the more recent stuff going around.
The soul is not something with which one can bargain.
(Matthew 10:28) And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be in fear of him that can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.

Tough guy 50 Cent ridiculed for doing aerobics to lost weight
Rapper 50 Cent was told by movie execs that he needs to shed some of his muscles for his upcoming role in the movie Streets of Blood. Taking this seriously, 50 is doing aerobics as part of his training regimen to better fit the role where he will be playing a cop in the Hurricane Katrina action movie.
Joining the rapper on the big screen will be Sharon Stone and Val Kilmer. Being associated with several big name box office stars can only help to advance the rapper’s career. All he has to do now is prove himself and who knows where things might lead.
Stone has been seen out partying in New York and Miami with her cast mates and a source said that she has even been listening to G-UNIT. Always the life of the party, the aging actress doesn’t seem to be leaving behind her preference for having a good time.
Word is that 50’s buddies have been making fun of the rapper, insinuating that he is becoming too “girly”. It sounds like 50 is ready to do what it takes to become an actor. We wish him luck in this new project.

Interview: 50 Cent claims Eminem has not ballooned with weight gain problem
*50 Cent wants everyone to know that Eminem has not ballooned in size, nor is his health in decline, as recent rumors have suggested.
"Em is in shape right now," 50 tells MTV News. "He looks good. I seen him in Detroit. He’s gonna look real good when you see him return."
"The last time I seen him we played basketball together," he added. "He had a knee injury, so we chilled for a little bit."
Eminem has been off the music scene for the past year. In his absence, rumors surfaced that he had gained weight and now weighs well over 200 pounds. In January, the Detroit rapper was hospitalized with pneumonia.

Metallica become hypocrites by giving away new album online just like Radiohead
Metallica, the band whose lawsuit wrecked file-sharing site Napster, is considering an online release for an upcoming album, along the lines of the successful releases of albums by Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails.
I’m betting that if they do that, they won’t use Radiohead’s ‘Name Your Price‘ model. I can’t imagine anyone volunteering to give Metallica an extra dime.

This is the Van Halen tour not Van Hagar
April 30, 2008
This is the Van Halen tour not Van Hagar
he next best thing to a Led Zeppelin reunion is of course a Van Halen reunion, with the original lineup, and 22 years in the making it was completely worth the wait.
Actually the wait for the St. Louis crowd was 23 years since the original concert date was in late October 2007, then postponed to March 31, 2008 and again rescheduled and finally carried out on April 26th.
Given the tumultuous relationship that is Van Halen, I thought after the second cancellation that my dream of seeing the real Van Halen live, not ‘Van Hagar’, was official dead in the water. However, the Scottrade Center went pitch black promptly at 8:30pm and Eddie Van Halen’s signature sound could be heard in the dark and a calm washed over me knowing that there would be nothing stopping me from witnessing the Van Halen legacy.
David Lee Roth appeared in an outfit that looked like James Dean, Viva Las Vegas era Elvis and Andrew Dice Clay had a ‘manage et trois’, but in typical Diamond Dave fashion, he was able to actually look cool in such a flamboyant costume.
Opening with "You Really Got Me" was really a metaphor for the show because Van Halen truly did keep us going all night. With the crowd already going nuts after that one song, Diamond Dave announced in a voice I will never forget, probably because it sounded like a nasally male Fran Drescher, "Better late than neverrrrrr!!" All was officially forgiven for Van Halen’s tardiness.
Van Halen is BACK, and all those that are still sore over Michael Anthony’s replacement, Wolfgang Van Halen, should really get over their brooding because father and son and Uncle Alex are really quite fun to watch as family. Father and son played back to back, Eddie messed up his son’s hair, Wolfie hugged his pop and Alex laid down a ferocious and dedicated backing sound that his nephew and brother continually applauded. Only Diamond Dave shares no Van Halen lineage, but he certainly seemed like a brother to Eddie the way they were getting along onstage.
As Van Halen tore through their amazing setlist (all Dave era), Roth executed his signature kung fu kicks and comical stage presence proving that he is still the quintessential front man. No front man has ever encompassed such an entertaining stage presence like Diamond Dave. And of course Eddie is still a ‘Guitar God’ continuing to prove few, if any, can keep up with his style of playing.
The reunited Van Halen all seemed to be having such a fun time performing together it forced me to contemplate, "Why on earth didn’t you do this sooner?" Let’s face it; the original Van Halen is the one we all want on the road. The difference between Van Halen and ‘Van Hagar’ is that Van Halen is a dirty rock and roll party band with unbelievably rocking tunes. ‘Van Hagar’ on the other hand, borders on soft rock that can be played in the background at the dentist when you are having a cavity filled. And those timeless Van Halen classics were perfectly performed Saturday night and kept my head banging so hard that my neck still hurts two days later.
The highlights of the show were "Jamie’s Cryin’", "Everybody Want’s Some", "Hot For Teacher", "Beautiful Girls", "Little Dreamer", "Ice Cream Man", "Runnin’ With The Devil", "Unchained" and "I’ll Wait".
If I was forced to make any negative comments it would be not hearing "Feel Your Love Tonight" or "Drop Dead Legs", and the $150 ticket price, which is the most I have ever paid for a single ticket. However, the two hour show was certainly worth the price given the commitment the band delivered to their admiring fans.
I keep telling myself Hell has officially frozen over because I saw Dave and the Van Halens onstage harmoniously. The future looks bright for this band of rocking egos.

The HARD electrodome will host the skittish sounds of MSTRKRFT and their electro brethren Steve Aoki, Italian up-and-comers the Bloody Beetroots, German techno star Miles Dyson, KCRW’s Jason Bentley, electrohouse New Yorker Kill the Noise and the grand architect of the evening Destructo, all performing in front of a giant, 30-foot screen with live visuals provided by video jockey Vello Virkhaus, best known for his eye-popping work with Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Police and Sandra Collins.
Presenting sponsors Nitrus, Dim Mak Records and Dance Right are pulling out all the stops for their second event, this time adding a HARD Mini skatepark, featuring stairs, rails and a euro gap. Outside, pro skaters will be shredding it up adjacent to the HARD Outdoor stage with live performances by Philly party starters Spank Rock, Chi-town rapstress Kid Sister, Kanye West’s right hand man A-Trak and showstopping headliners N*E*R*D. Additional sponsors include MySpace.com and URB magazine.
Having made headlines for ushering in the New Year with the triumvirate of Justice, Peaches, 2 Live Crew and more than 20 others at the inaugural event HARD NYE, HARD returns to make summer even hotter. In addition to a variety of stunning visuals, the event will feature full bars, an abundance of apparel for sale and an assortment of ethnic/organic food vendors to ensure the party goes into the early hours of the morning. If you thought NYE was impressive, prepare to be destroyed this summer.
