During interview, Chris Martin of Coldplay is jealous over Gwyneth Paltrow relationship with Brad Pitt

Everybody gets jealous, even big stars like Coldplay’s Christ Martin - who revealed that wife Gwyneth Paltrow’s relationship with Brad Pitt was still a sore spot for him.

Chris told ‘Life&Style’: "I feel like I constantly have to confirm that she made the right choice when she picked me. Whether I believe that myself, that is another question."

It sounds like Chris is suffering from some serious self-confidence issues. The singer doesn’t see his feeling as negative, however. He believes that people can grow from these challenges.

JEWEL IS "PERFECTLY CLEAR" FOR TOUR

microphone "Perfectly Clear."

JEWEL IS "PERFECTLY CLEAR" FOR TOUR

OLD LYME, CONNECTICUT - JULY 2008: Painter, poet and singer-songwriter,
Jewel is back in the spotlight, promoting a new country music album,
"Perfectly Clear," and hitting the road for a lengthy U.S. tour with Brad
Paisley following some TV promotion, including appearances on "The Tonight
Show with Jay Leno" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Jewel, who was famously
discovered while performing solo in the coffee shops of San Diego, first
adopted Neumann's KMS 105 on her 2006 tour with matchbox 20 singer Rob
Thomas, and is once again using the wired vocal mic with her new five-piece
band.

"It's a vocal mic that can handle not only her dynamic range but also her
vocal range," comments Jewel's front-of-house engineer, Curt Jenkins, who
has been monitor engineer/production manager for country superstars Big &
Rich for some time, and also worked on Alabama's farewell tour. "We have
access to the stage thrust, with Brad Paisley, so when she goes to walk out
into the audience we toss her a Sennheiser SKM 935 G2 wireless mic which is
extremely stable in front of the PA."

"I know the 105 because I've used it with her for three years. It works well
with her," confirms monitor engineer Adrian Silverstein, who has previously
worked with the Goo Goo Dolls, Five for Fighting, and John Mayer. The
onstage mic complement also includes Sennheiser e 935 wired vocal mics for
the bass player - the main background singer - and the keyboard player. A
guitar player and drummer plus a multi-instrumentalist handling pedal steel,
mandolin and banjo complete the band lineup.

Silverstein reports that he is generating wireless personal monitor mixes
for everyone but the drummer and keyboard player. "The whole band is on G2
monitors - I don't use anything else," he says. "It makes my job too
difficult to try to use anything else. The G2 stuff is so solid. I know from
my cue pack that what I'm sending out is what they're hearing.

Jewel's summer tour with Brad Paisley of amphitheaters and similarly sized
venues began in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 11th and currently runs
through late October. For more information on Jewel visit www.jeweljk.com.

Coldplay remove crap merchandize from tour

Coldplay remove crap merchandize from tour

Coldplay removed a number of items from their roster of tour merchandise after reportedly being shocked at the quality of some of them, according to NME.com. Singer Chris Martin declared the band’s tour merchandise a "no crap zone" just before the group kicked off its North American tour last Monday (July 14th), telling the Sun, "We were in the dressing room in (Los Angeles) looking at some of the stuff and much of it, especially some of the T-shirts, looked terrible." Martin added, "We put so much work into our music. That same quality control has to extend to stuff being sold at our shows and we made that clear. It has to be a no crap zone."

Coldplay is touring in support of its recently released fourth album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. The band pulls into Chicago next for a two-night stand on Tuesday (July 22nd) and Wednesday (July 23rd).

The CD sold another 113,000 copies last week to push its total over 1.2 million and keep it at Number Two on the Billboard album chart.

A 1987 cult hit, The Lost Boys’ soundtrack is arguably one of the most beloved movie soundtracks of the last 20 years. Armed with great, eerie songs that fit perfectly opposite the little film with a big bite, the soundtrack to the much anticipated sequel, Lost Boys The Tribe, delivers just the same.

Helping to create a soundtrack worthy of it’s well-respected predecessor, the Lost Boys The Tribe soundtrack includes AIDEN covering the classic anthem “Cry Little Sister” while THE VON BONDIES offer up “Only To Haunt You,” a never-before heard cut from their new album Love Hate And Then There’s You. Others include Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode fame, as well as the revamped Blind Melon.

Previously unreleased tracks include Aiden’s cover of “Cry Little Sister,” as well as Seether’s live acoustic rendition of “Burrito” and G.Love & Special Sauce’s “Long Way Down,” and The Von Bondies’ “Only To Haunt You.”

Says Aiden singer wiL Francis: "When we were approached to be a part of the new Lost Boys movie I was beside myself. Being such a fan of the original I could hardly set my excitement aside. This is a great opportunity for us to pay homage and be a part of something spectacular."

Artists’ Addiction Records is a leader in the horror soundtrack genre, releasing the popular SAW 1-4 Soundtrack CD’s.  SaysAAR President Jonathan Miller: “I’m really excited to be a part of this project. I grew up with the original movie so to be involved with the second installment is amazing. We are all thrilled with the music that has been selected for the soundtrack and movie.”

Set in the shady surf city of Luna Bay, California, Lost Boys The Tribe takes us to a world where vampires roam the night and feed on anyone who crosses their path. Into this dark world arrive Chris Emerson (Tad Hilgenbrink) and his younger sister, Nicole (Autumn Reeser). Having just lost their parents in a car accident, the siblings move in with their eccentric Aunt Jillian and become new prey for the locals’ way of life. When Nicole unwittingly falls for a local vampire, Chris must locate and destroy the gang’s lifeline before his sister’s transformation is complete; to do this Chris finds himself relying on the expertise of none other than Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman). With subtle references to characters from the original film, and cameos from returning actors,Lost Boys The Tribe offers a homage to the Lost Boys legend while creating a sinister tone of impending doom.

U2 remixed albums of Boy, October, a spark more rip off claims

July 21, 2008

U2 remixed album spark more rip off claims

They are one of the richest bands on the planet, but it seems U2 still haven’t found enough of the green stuff to keep them happy.

The millionaire supergroup was last night accused of pulling a "con" by selling their fans re-packaged, re-mastered and re-released albums that are on offer for as much as €50.

The band has just launched new versions of their first three classic albums: ‘Boy’, ‘October’ and ‘War’.

The albums are available in basic one-disc editions priced at €12.99, a "deluxe" two-disc set with "b-sides, live tracks and rarities" for €29.99, and a ‘Boy’ box set, which contains a "deluxe" CD and a t-shirt and costs €49.99.

The three re-released U2 albums are also available on vinyl. And some of the "rarities" on the deluxe, second CDs are re-worked versions of old fan favourites.

Of the 12 songs on the second disc of ‘War’, over half are remixes, with three new workings of ‘Two Hearts Beat As One’ and four of the classic ‘New Year’s Day’.

Despite the fact that the band says all three albums have been re-mastered and brushed up from audio tapes that are over 25 years old, music fans yesterday criticised what they saw as the latest big-name music rip-off.

"That’s a rip-off, definitely a rip-off," said Jamie Farley, from Enniskillen. "I wouldn’t buy it because it was a different version. If it was out years ago and I bought it then, I definitely wouldn’t buy it now."

And even die-hard fans were left disillusioned by what they saw as a new attempt at "cashing in" on old material.

"Basically, I’m a bit disappointed because I think it’s a con," said a "major" U2 fan who did not wish to be named. "As a big fan, I don’t see what the point or the bonus is in buying it. I think it’s a money spinner. Re-mastered means nothing, really," he continued.

"I’m a musician and I make records; and re-mastered, to the average punter, means sweet FA.

"If you’re sitting in Windmill Lane studios and you have the speakers at full blare, of course you’re going to hear a difference, but if you play it on the car stereo or at home, the average Joe won’t know the difference."

The original versions of the three albums were pulled from shelves earlier this year and the band have already released a re-mastered version of ‘The Joshua Tree’ — the only copies of which left in stock in HMV on Grafton Street, Dublin, now sell for €40.

"It’s typical marketing," said Scheherezade Suria from Barcelona. "Most bands repackage the CDs and sell them off. I didn’t know U2 did it but I’m not surprised."

However, sales of the re-packaged albums were reported to be brisk at the Dublin store yesterday.

"Combined, the three albums are our best seller today," said assistant manager Chris Keena. "That’s the way a lot of artists are re-releasing stuff now. They release a greatest hits collection with an extra track."

Ben Folds New Album Announcement News

Ben Folds New Album Announcement News

BEN FOLDS TO RELEASE NEW RECORD,WAY TO NORMAL, SEPTEMBER 30, 2008
LONG-AWAITED FOLLOW UP TO SONGS FOR SILVERMAN FEATURES RAUCOUS TRACKS, TRADEMARK HUMOR

Ben Folds At PianoEpic Records is proud to announce the release of the much-anticipated new album from Ben Folds, WAY TO NORMAL, on September 30, 2008. The album, Folds’ third as a solo artist since the break up of the Ben Folds Five in 2000, was mostly recorded at his studio in Nashville and produced by Dennis Herring (Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse, The Hives). Featuring Folds on vocals and piano, Way to Normal also features long-time bassist Jared Reynolds and drummer Sam Smith as well as a guest vocal from indie pop heroine Regina Spektor on the album’s first single, "You Don’t Know Me."
Way to Normal is an exuberant, raucous, and sometimes profane mix of sure-fire crowd-pleasers ("Hiroshima," "Bitch Went Nuts," and the frenetically fuzzed-out "Dr. Yang"), cheerful snark-fests ("The Frown Song," "Brainwascht"), and thoughtful, moving ballads ("Cologne," "Kylie From Connecticut") that Folds wrote at the end of 2007 following the finalization of a two-year divorce.
But it should not be assumed that Way to Normal is Folds’ version of Marvin Gaye’s Here My Dear or Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks (though Folds says that in the early stages of recording he came close to calling the album "Blood on the Keyboard").
"The songs are not topical," Folds says. "I was not interested in making a record about the D-word. I got all that stuff out of my system on the last record [2005’s pensive Songs for Silverman], which was deliberately stoic. This new album is really about me being free, which is why it feels cathartic and expressive. It’s about me coming back to being myself." (Hence the title.) "I came out of the courthouse, kissed the ground, and walked straight into the studio. I felt like a bottle of champagne that had been shaken for 18 months and popped open in the studio. That’s why this record has so much energy."
Folds has been going pretty much non-stop since the 2001 release of his debut solo album Rockin’ the Suburbs. In short order, Folds has released a live album (2002’s aptly titled Ben Folds Live) and a pioneering series of three Internet-only digital EPs: Speed Graphic, Sunny 16, and Super D in 2003-2004; co-wrote and produced William Shatner’s 2004 solo album Has Been; released Songs for Silverman (which featured the Adult Top 40 hit "Landed"); contributed three original songs to the soundtrack for the 2006 film Over the Hedge; and produced a forthcoming solo album by Dresden Dolls frontwoman Amanda Palmer.
In 2006, Folds released Supersunnyspeedgraphic, The LP - a compilation of tracks from the Internet-only EP’s and B-sides, including an inspired cover of Dr. Dre’s "Bitches Ain’t Shit." Along the way, there have been numerous tours, including a few with The Bens, a "supergroup" Folds formed with fellow singer-songwriters Ben Kweller and Ben Lee in 2003, as well tours with Rufus Wainwright and Guster in 2004, The Fray in 2005, and John Mayer in 2007. A classically trained percussionist whose musical chops could not be denied, Ben Folds also performs with orchestras, including a stint with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in Perth, which led to his DVD Ben Folds and WASO: Live at Perth as well as Baltimore, Boston Pops for their season opener in 2007 and a stint of residencies with all five major Australian symphonies in 2006: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide which set a number of ticket sales records for the esteemed Australian orchestras.  In 2008, Folds will perform with the Nashville Symphony, opening their 2008-2009 season (September 7, 2008) and will also perform with the local symphonies in Philadelphia, Ft. Wayne, IN, and Louisville, KY.
Ben Folds has been performing at many summer festivals this year, and will continue to tour worldwide in support of Way To Normal throughout the fall and into 2009.

JONAS PRODUCTIONS, ON TOUR WITH HARRY CONNICK JR.

July 21, 2008

JONAS PRODUCTIONS, ON TOUR WITH HARRY CONNICK JR.
IS A BELIEVER IN SENNHEISER AND NEUMANN

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - JULY 2008: Sennheiser technology was at the
forefront for the performance by Harry Connick Jr. and His Big Band during
the two-hour Concert for Hope that preceded the Sunday Mass led by Pope
Benedict XVI at New York's Yankee Stadium in mid-April. Indiana-based Jonas
Productions, Inc., Connick's long-time production sound partner, ensured
there would be no technical problems by relying on tried and trusted Neumann
and Sennheiser microphones and RF technology. In addition, Connick's usual
touring set-up was supplemented with Sennheiser headphones for the entire
band.

Having used Sennheiser equipment with Connick around the world, Scott
Griffith, senior RF coordinator and monitor engineer knew there would be no
problems. "I put a lot of time every day into RF coordination," he said.
"We've used it all over the world. We've been all over North America and
Canada, Western Europe, Southeast Asia and Australia, and in that time I
haven't had a single failure of a Sennheiser RF product or any of the
microphones during a show. All the Sennheiser RF equipment is rock solid
every night."

The setup at Yankee Stadium, where Connick and His Big Band performed as
part of a two-hour show that also featured tenor Ronan Tynan, Jose
Feliciano, opera star Marcello Giord and Connick's guest, vocalist Kim
Burrell, was certainly a challenge. Front-of-house engineer Randy Cole
explains, "Imagine the band playing around what would be home plate, Harry
singing and playing piano at what would be roughly the pitcher's mound, then
the PA being above the stage where the Pope was located, at second base. We
ended up using Sennheiser HD 280 headphones so at least the band could hear
in time." The musicians were undoubtedly also helped by the -32dB of passive
isolation afforded by the HD 280 PRO headphones.

The typical touring setup includes Sennheiser SKM 5200 handheld transmitters
outfitted with Neumann KK 105-S capsules for Connick. "As the RF environment
gets more and more hostile it becomes more and more important that we have
the 5kHz agility," says Griffith. "On a full blown show we also have three
Neumann KMS 105s on gooseneck stands - one at the piano, one at the upright
piano and one at the B3 organ."

"It's the best vocal mic I've ever worked with, period," states Cole. "Harry
tends to not really sing into the mic so much as sing around it. When he's
speaking he tends to drop the mic down around his waist. I still get the
same response as when he's speaking right into it. You still maintain a
nice, full-range, warm sound, and when he gets on it it's not too boomy."

Griffith oversees a half-dozen channels of Sennheiser EM 3532 true diversity
receivers. "Two are for trumpet players, who are using SK 5212 belt-packs
with an MKE Platinum lavalier mic. It's really important with those guys
that the mic isn't a distraction, because it's so much closer to their face
than, say, a trombone player. I love the sound of the Sennheisers, and I
love the sound of that belt-pack."

Tenor saxophone player Jerry Weldon also uses an SK 5212, paired with a
Sennheiser e 908 mic. "One thing that we really like about the 908 is the
way that the mic is shock-isolated from the gooseneck. That does wonders for
handling noise," says Griffith. "Same thing with our walk-on trombonist,
Lucien Barbarin, who uses a 5212 and a 908. He does a lot of human voice
mimicking with the trombone, and it's a really faithful reproduction of
that."

As for the rest of the band, says Cole, "We use a combination of Neumann TLM
193s for the saxophones and TLM 127s for the trombones. All those mics are
great in their own way but the 127s are fantastic on the trombones. They
give that nice, deep, warm sound of the trombone. It's smoother than
anything else I've used on them."

Cole continues, "What I've been using on the kick is a TLM 193. One of the
saxophone positions is right in front of the drummer, so I've got a row of
193s there already. It's a kind of New Orleans street beat kick drum for the
majority of the songs. Then when we do the traditional jazz he does four on
the floor, and with the 193 I'm able to have a kick drum that isn't a pop
sound. Using any other mic didn't really go between the two styles, and the
193 matched well with what's already coming into the saxophone mics."

Adds Griffith, "The drum overheads are KM 184s. That's my entire drum mix
for the horn players. I really am catching the snare and the toms and even
some of the kick drum with those, and it's a faithful reproduction."
Griffith is using a KM 185 to capture the high-end of the acoustic bass.
"The KM 185 is pointed at where his fingers hit the strings at the bottom of
the neck to catch the slappy sound of the bass," he explains.

"If the tour ever does need support," says Griffith, "service from
Sennheiser is great. If I need something I pick up the phone and I call Dawn
Birr or Alice Hencir personally and they send me anything I need right away.
Logistics are never a problem. Any service issues that we've had, it's just
been a phone call and it shows up the next day."
