Coldplay remove crap merchandize from tour

Coldplay removed a number of items from their roster of tour merchandise after reportedly being shocked at the quality of some of them, according to NME.com. Singer Chris Martin declared the band’s tour merchandise a "no crap zone" just before the group kicked off its North American tour last Monday (July 14th), telling the Sun, "We were in the dressing room in (Los Angeles) looking at some of the stuff and much of it, especially some of the T-shirts, looked terrible." Martin added, "We put so much work into our music. That same quality control has to extend to stuff being sold at our shows and we made that clear. It has to be a no crap zone."

Coldplay is touring in support of its recently released fourth album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. The band pulls into Chicago next for a two-night stand on Tuesday (July 22nd) and Wednesday (July 23rd).

The CD sold another 113,000 copies last week to push its total over 1.2 million and keep it at Number Two on the Billboard album chart.
