Radiohead have been placed alongside Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones in the The Real 100 Greatest Rock Songs.
Classic Rock Magazine has published the list, which it describes as ‘The Connoisseur’s Choice’ compiled from suggestions by rock stars, producers, industry insiders and the magazine’s readers.
Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir, Def Leppard’s Wasted and Whitesnake’s Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City sit alongside other classic rock greats such as The Rolling Stones Tumbling Dice, Bruce Springsteen’s Thunder Road and Positively 4th Street by Bob Dylan.
While modern songs such as Radiohead’s My Iron Lung, I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness and Foo Fighters’ Everlong also made the list.
Sian Llewellyn, editor of Classic Rock Magazine said: “Lists that attempt to compile the Greatest Rock Songs Ever always feature the usual suspects - the same old songs found on garage forecourt compilation CDs. We wanted a list decided by people who really know their rock’n'roll - not marketing folk. We asked the true connoisseurs of rock to decide - the rock stars, producers, industry movers and shakers and the Classic Rock readers themselves. Consequently our list features some obscure classics, some well-known songs and some surprises along the way. The response we had from readers is proof how passionate rock fans are today.”
