Eagle Releases Tori Amos ‘Live At Montreux 1991/1992′ - On CD and DVD September 30
August 27, 2008
EAGLE TO RELEASE TORI AMOS LIVE AT MONTREUX 1991/1992
~September 30~
Acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Gets Duel CD/DVD Release
New York, NY (August 26, 2008)—Tori Amos splashed on the scene in the early ‘90s brimming with newfound creativity, intelligence, sensitivity and an exacting literary bearing. Fawned over by critics and the public alike, that first spotlight was a heady time in the young singer/songwriter’s career. On September 30, 2008, Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Eye Media subsidiary, will release Tori Amos Live At Montreux 1991/1992 on both CD (16 songs) and DVD (90 minutes, 19 songs) simultaneously sold separately [pre-book date September 10, DVD Retail Sales Price $14.98, CD Retail Sales price $13.98]. It is a rare glimpse into that initial breathy rush of a great artist’s ascendency.
The ’91 gig came only months before her Little Earthquakes debut had catapulted her into an instant icon, the ’92 appearance shortly thereafter. The progression in both performance and audience receptivity is appreciable. Material includes most of the stellar debut but also tracks from her indie EPs and some curious covers (Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” and “Thank You” as well as Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”).
Tori was born Myra Ellen Amos in 1963. Her stark confessional style owes a hint of a debt to Joni Mitchell. Tori, though, updated Joni’s obliquely personal oeuvre by digging down deep into such dramatic lyrical topics as sexuality, religion and personal tragedy. It touched a universal chord and a star was born.

Manly Chris Martin of COldplay reveals during interview making argyle sweaters adds success to band
August 26, 2008
Coldplay’s thrifty habit has us in stitches…
We couldn’t help cracking up when we heard Coldplay secret to their success - sewing.
They’ve sold 34.6 million albums and top the rock rich list, but the thrifty lot don’t care about their image or waste their wonga on designer threads.
Instead, the millionaire rock stars like nothing better than getting behind their sewing machines for a good stitch and bitch.
And Chris Martin reckons it’s what keeps the group so tight-knit.
“Making clothes together in our studio makes us feel complete. We probably sound like a group of grannies in a knitting circle but it’s the truth and it gives us some control over our visual identity.”
It’s certainly an interesting thread to their success. For while other rock ‘n’ roll bands devour the mini-bar or trash the room while staying in hotels on tour, the clean-living musos seek out the needle and cotton. “We see if they have a sewing kit in the amenities draw in case we feel inspired,” says Chris.
“When you are a big band and everyone is taking shots at you, the more things you can do together the better.

Joshua Bell - Vivaldi’s: The Four Seasons - Available September 2, 2008

JOSHUA BELL PLAYS THE FOUR SEASONS
THE GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING VIOLINIST’S
FIRST RECORDING OF VIVALDI’S CLASSIC

Academy of St. Martin in the Fields
Also includes Bell’s interpretation of Tartini’s The Devil’s Trill
Sony BMG Masterworks Recording
Titled Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons (88697110132)
Available September 2, 2008
Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell, who has enchanted audiences for two decades with his breathtaking playing and tone of rare opulence, has recorded Antonio Vivaldi’s concertos The Four Seasons. Widely considered as one of the premiere violinists of his generation, Bell is joined on this studio release by the celebrated musicians of the Academy of St.Martin in the Fields, who toured the work with him prior to the recording sessions.
This recording of The Four Seasons is coupled with another masterpiece of Baroque virtuosity, Giuseppe Tartini’s The Devil’s Trill. The liner notes by Linda Kobler explain the curious genesis of Tartini’s piece and the indisputable place of Vivaldi’s concertos in the history of sonata composition.
Known for his breadth and daring in choice of repertoire and collaborators, Bell is no less innovative in the way he reinvigorates Vivaldi’s perennial favorite. Bell explains his take on Vivaldi’s classic: “You will never hear two versions of The Four Seasons that are alike, which is why I think there is always room for another view of the piece. My version is very personal.” Bell mixes together the influences of the grand Romantic tradition, in which he was schooled by teacher and mentor Josef Gingold, and his experiences with prominent early music practitioners such as conductor Roger Norrington. The results are true to Bell’s buoyant and emotionally attuned musical personality. Bell comments: “One could go overboard and make everything too pretty, and it’s nice to have the gutsier side of Baroque music. The [players] I admire in Baroque music really dig into it, and the violinists play with great abandon. I think with The Four Seasons you can’t be too deferential.”
Bell’s interpretation on this recording is enriched by his seasoned partnership with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. The quality of their chamber-music playing — intimate, expressive, unified — made the decision to play without a conductor a natural, stylistically appropriate choice, as Bell explains:
“Certainly in the Baroque time it would have been unheard of to have a middle man conducting while the violinist was playing the music. When you don’t have a conductor you also have a different feeling with the orchestra because they feel much more empowered. This particular recording we did at the culmination of a big tour where we played The Four Seasons night after night, and from night to night we changed things, experimented with things and everyone had suggestions. It was very much a team feeling.”
As an exclusive Sony Classical artist, Joshua Bell has released a series of albums to critical and popular acclaim, including The Red Violin Concerto, Voice of the Violin, West Side Story Suite, Nicholas Maw’s Concerto for Violin, and Romance of the Violin, which remained on the Billboard charts for two years and was named Billboard’s 2004 “Classical Album of the Year.” Recent honors include the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize and his appointment to the Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music faculty as a senior lecturer.

New York, NY – LaFace/Zomba artist P!nk is rapidly climbing up the radio charts with her catchy and rebellious new song “So What” from her forthcoming album Funhouse. The album is confirmed for commercial release on October 28th.
This week “So What” makes a big splash at radio: it is the #1 Most added song at two radio formats in the U.S. (Pop and Adult Contemporary), and the Most Added single at Canadian radio. In addition to the enthusiastic response at radio, “So What” gets a stamp of approval on Entertainment Weekly’s “10 Things We Love This Week” list: “The singer’s her old self again with this taunting, raspy rebel yell of an anthem that boasts a mean hook.”
In Canada, P!nk is set to premiere her colourfully bold “So What” video (directed by David Meyers) on Yahoo! Music Canada on Friday, August 22 at 9:00 p.m. EST, and the portal will exclusively stream the video for 24 hours. “So What” was co-written by P!nk and produced by Max Martin, who worked with her on ‘Who Knew” and ”U + Ur Hand.”
Since her debut in 2000, P!nk (Alecia Moore) has been widely hailed as a fearlessly talented singer/songwriter, and the Pennsylvania native’s genre-defying creative risk-taking has propelled her to global stardom. To date, the chanteuse has sold 22 million albums cumulatively worldwide. Her previous albums include: her four million-unit selling debut, Can’t Take Me Home (2000); her sophomore follow-up, M!ssundaztood (2001) which sold 11 million worldwide; and the 2.7 million worldwide seller Try This (2003). Her most recent effort, I’m Not Dead (2006) sold over 5 million units globally and spawned two No. 1 hits, “Who Knew” and “U + Ur Hand” along with critic/fan favorites, “Stupid Girls” and “Dear Mr. President.”
