EAGLE TO RELEASE TORI AMOS LIVE AT MONTREUX 1991/1992
~September 30~
Acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Gets Duel CD/DVD Release
New York, NY (August 26, 2008)—Tori Amos splashed on the scene in the early ‘90s brimming with newfound creativity, intelligence, sensitivity and an exacting literary bearing. Fawned over by critics and the public alike, that first spotlight was a heady time in the young singer/songwriter’s career. On September 30, 2008, Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Eye Media subsidiary, will release Tori Amos Live At Montreux 1991/1992 on both CD (16 songs) and DVD (90 minutes, 19 songs) simultaneously sold separately [pre-book date September 10, DVD Retail Sales Price $14.98, CD Retail Sales price $13.98]. It is a rare glimpse into that initial breathy rush of a great artist’s ascendency.
The ’91 gig came only months before her Little Earthquakes debut had catapulted her into an instant icon, the ’92 appearance shortly thereafter. The progression in both performance and audience receptivity is appreciable. Material includes most of the stellar debut but also tracks from her indie EPs and some curious covers (Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” and “Thank You” as well as Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”).
Tori was born Myra Ellen Amos in 1963. Her stark confessional style owes a hint of a debt to Joni Mitchell. Tori, though, updated Joni’s obliquely personal oeuvre by digging down deep into such dramatic lyrical topics as sexuality, religion and personal tragedy. It touched a universal chord and a star was born.

?Dark, moody, and emotionally taut…it’s one of the best Canadian shows of the year.? - NOW Magazine Toronto, ON ? Muse Distribution International has engaged Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada, a leader in the crime and horror genre, as its exclusive service agent in Canada to distribute Durham County, the sophisticated and powerful series that explores violence in a suburban setting, in the Canadian home entertainment market. Season two of Durham County is heading into production this fall and will premiere on The Movie Network (eastern Canada) and Movie Central (western Canada) in spring 2009.
Durham County is an emotionally compelling six-episode dramatic series that combines police procedural with an intense family drama. It explores the complex relationship between a homicide cop, Mike Sweeney, played by Hugh Dillon (Hard Core Logo, Flashpoint) and his adversary, Ray Prager, who appears to be a serial killer, played by Justin Louis (Trump Unauthorized). They have a shared history that goes all the way back to high school; as well as unfinished business and dark secrets. You think you can leave your past behind. But you can?t?
H?l?ne Joy (Murdoch Mysteries) plays Sweeney?s wife Audrey who has recently returned home from the hospital after a battle with breast cancer, and Laurence Leboeuf (Human Trafficking) is their 16 year old daughter with a dark streak. Ray?s wife Traci, Sonya Salomaa (The Collector), is a knockout blonde in her early thirties and Greyston Holt (A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story) is their son Ray Jr, a talented writer who is belittled by his father and an outsider at school. They say there are only six degrees of separation between you and anyone else in the world, but sometimes it?s not even that. Sometimes the most brutal evil you can imagine is already in your world. Sometimes he?s just across the street.

BEACH BOYS AND THE SATAN ON DVD
Most people imagine California during the sixties to be an idyllic peaceful and highly creative place in which some of the greatest music of the sixties and beyond was created. In many ways this is true but there was also a dark undercurrent that took hold during the late sixties and it stretched out and infiltrated what many people to be "America’s Band" The Beach Boys when drummer Dennis Wilson became involved with a cult led by Charles Manson called "The Family". This documentary details the Beach Boys rise to success into context with rarely seen footage of the band, while it exposes the Summer of Love’s darkest side and investigates the connections between some of the most controversial characters of that period (Anton La Vey, Kenneth Anger, and Brian Wilson) and their connection to the Manson Family. The film includes interviews with Kim Fowley, Don Was and the creative force behind the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson. The film which was originally released in 1997 has been unavailable for some time and this release on DVD will be highly anticipated.

EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT TO RELEASE SOME MORE STUFF ON JULY 15
Live At Montreux 1976 Documents Smokin’ Set By Instrumental Titans
New York, NY (June 9, 2008)—They were the most in-demand of all the session players. Guitarist Cornell Dupree, bassist Gordon Edwards, drummer Steve Gadd, guitarist Eric Gale and keyboardist Richard Tee probably played on most of the albums you bought in the 1970s and beyond. Yet when they convened as Stuff, an all-instrumental funk-jazz-pop-rock-soul machine, they had an inherent chemistry all their own. They could stop on a dime, wheel it around and churn off in another direction that was as dizzying and satisfying as it was thrilling and syncopated. Their only Montreux Jazz Festival appearance came in 1976 and they did not disappoint.
Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to announce the release of Stuff’s Live At Montreux 1976—on CD and DVD—on July 15 [pre-book date June 25, DVD Retail Sales Price $14.98, CD Retail Sales Price $13.98.]
With material by composers such as Stevie Wonder, Dave Mason, Billy Preston, Steely Dan, Earth Wind & Fire, Edwin Hawkins, James Weldon Johnson and others, Stuff plays the tar out of these songs and the knowledgeable Montreux crowd erupts. It’s a goosebump-raising performance.
The legendary vocalist Odetta contributes vocals to “Oh Happy Day.”
Bassist Edwards writes the liner notes. Singer/songwriter Chris Rea contributes an essay. “The purity of what’s on this video,” says Rea, “is the true history of modern music. It’s as good as it ever got and ever will get."
Eric Clapton, who knows a little something about guitar, calls the Stuff groove, “one of the best groove zones ever, every player a genius.”

JOHNNY HALLYDAY LIVE AT MONTREUX 1988
~ On CD May 20 and DVD June 24 ~
French Legend Finally Gets Stateside Due
With Solid Set Of Euro-Rockabilly
Elvis Presley. Jerry Lee Lewis. Carl Perkins. Roy Orbison. Buddy Holly. Billy Lee Riley. Gene Vincent. These are the names one thinks of as the architects of rockabilly: distinguished by those hiccupping vocals and that slapback bass. It sprouted up in the mid-1950s as the bastard child of country music and rhythm’n’blues. DJ Alan Freed called it rock’n’roll and the name stuck.
Not too many Americans noticed that overseas, in France, there was one more major rock’n’roll artist who took that original spark and made it uniquely French. Johnny Hallyday, after 100 million albums sold, 400 tours, hit movies and status as a national icon, is all but unknown in the States. When he retired from live performances last year at the age of 64, an era had ended.
On May 20, Eagle Records will release Johnny Hallyday Live At Montreux 1988 on CD, with the DVD companion following on June 24. The 10-song set is aural proof of Hallyday’s tremendous appeal and a solid reason why he is to be thought of as the French equivalent to the above-named pioneers.
Born Jean Philippe Smet on June 15, 1943 in Paris, he was an immediate sensation when his 1959 Hello Johnny debut had him rocking out in French (he would go on to have 18 platinum albums). Although he first came to the attention of stateside television audiences when he performed with Connie Francis on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1962, he never really took off in America. Yet his concerts abroad became major events and he seemed to get stronger onstage as the years rolled by. His peak came with the 2000 100% Johnny concert (the French Woodstock) with a live audience at The Eiffel Tower estimated at 500,000 and another 9.5 million watching on live television.

*****
On a
- Gilles Verlant
