I love all the girls, but my favorite is Carrie. Sarah Jessica Parker has always charmed me, but as Carrie in SEX AND THE CITY she continued, week after week, to take me along on her emotional roller coaster rides. Big (Chris Noth) broke my heart as well as hers. I felt her pain as she pushed and pulled Aiden (John Corbett) in their relationship. Jack Berger (Ron Livingston) hurt me in the way he treated Carrie. Post-It notes will never have any other meaning! Last, there’s Aleksandr (Mikhail Baryshinokov) who will never be forgiven.
Carrie’s friends became my friends. Kim Cattrall plays Samantha, the wonderfully confident (most of the time) woman who takes the world by its balls. To name all her men would take a lifetime, but the touchingly good, Smith (Jason Lewis), and the dreadfully bad, Richard (James Remar), are both in one of the best tear-jerking scenes in the series.
Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is the guilt-ridden lawyer who is, most of the time, the most levelheaded friend. The most unlikely relationship develops with Steve (David Eigenberg), a bartender and, eventually, the father of her baby. It doesn’t’ work out, and then there’s Dr. Robert Leeds (Blair Underwood). She did break up with him for a very good reason, but I hated to see him go!
Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is the naïve, forever-optimistic friend. When she gets depressed, it’s justified because she seems to have the worst luck. Once she lands Trey MacDougal (Kyle MacLauchlan) her real troubles begin, the main one the haughty, controlling mother-in-law. Never has anyone wanted a child more, or had more difficulty.
The last season of SEX AND THE CITY was so emotional that I cried at least once during every episode. It was still a comedy, but dealt with so many important issues. The girls really came through some tough situations, mainly because they had each other. When I watched it again on the Fox reruns I was so disappointed that they left out so many great moments. Can’t wait for the movie!

The hat industry is buzzing, giddy in fact: "It’s coming. It’s coming." No, it’s not the Russians or the Martians. It’s the new Indiana Jones movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
These Indiana Jones movies - the first one was released in 1981 - have meant more to the hat business in the last half-century than any other event on the planet. The only thing that comes close is the relatively new realization that hats serve an enormous benefit in protecting people from the harmful effects of the sun. Imagine, the direct relevance of hats to one’s health has had less impact on the hat industry than a series of movies!
Indy’s hat is a modern-day icon. Its current influence on the hat buying public is nothing short of phenomenal. The current popularity of fedoras can be traced to the first Indiana Jones movie when Indy, played by Harrison Ford, wears a safari style fedora, where the medium-to-large brim is turned down in the front and the back. The hat has become emblematic of the man. After that, all fedora styles took off. I go to movies to be entertained. I don’t go to learn, be intellectually challenged, or evolve. I go to be entertained. Which is why I no longer go to movies at $20 a pop with all the hassle involved. Now I’m happy to just watch movies on DVD via Netflix. Hollywood apparently can’t grasp that.
The final straw for me was the Academy Award Winner, "No Country for Old Men". Since when do they honor movies that are poorly constructed? I loved this movie till the last 20 minutes or so when its like everything that built up to the ending was forgotten about and all I got was Tommy Lee Jones philosophize about life. Boring! I didn’t pay $20 for this. If I wanted to learn philosophy or understand the meaning of life, I’d read a book not listen to Tommy Lee Jones do boring monologue while spending $9 on a bag of popcorn.. Yeah, Tommy, life is different from the olden days. How profound! They don’t make ‘em like that, anymore.
Since I no longer go to movies, I can watch "Michael Clayton", fall asleep several times out of sheer boredom, and appreciate a movie like this as a cure for insomnia instead of being upset that it got good reviews and I wasted $20.
The weird thing is, while technology has provided me with affordable, excellent home theater systems to watch movies on DVD, movies for the most part are more sterile, dull and predictable. In the old days, there would always be a great exciting movie without redeeming social value like, "Re-Animator", which would get the juices going. They don’t make ‘em like that, anymore.

The world film industry is at a leisurely high production rate, making job opportunity in this area. What are the prerequisites for joining the cinematography industry. Job factors, education and background are the key challenges when looking into this area.
In the modern era, young adults face a very open choice when entering the employment lane. The youth is targeted by a lot of contrasting views on where they should head in their future. Parents, government, teacher and idols bombard the youths with pressure as to where they should be. "Stay in school", "work full time", "Save every penny…" are old pieces of advice that are difficult to apply to the fast moving age that is the early twenty first century. The key is to work to learn, whether it be through Uni, school, work or experience, as long you are earning, the way that is most comfortable for you the money will follow. Thus with a strong education foundation you can make it in any profession and indeed film.
It remains a large question as to how one should go about learning the industry. There are many lines of work in cinematography (video art, sound, post production, sales ect.) and so it’s hard to know where to start learning. It’s what suits you, university will teach you a lot but learn while working will give you a better feel for that line of work, in Australia often neither is considered better. "…without the knowing the rules, you don’t know how to brake them…" post production Bundaberg Channel Ten. While you might consider not learning all the rules and foundations for your trade, It’s near impossible to create a style that works for you when you cant define different from the average. The difficult choice may revolve around opportunity shortage.
Uni is a difficult thing to get into. When trying to enter the arts it’s important to show your best side. Lecturer from the Queensland School of Film advises " …the industry expects to see your best, if all you have to show that’s you best is 30 seconds of work, give them 30 seconds of work…". It may be advisable to create a larger portfolio than 30 seconds however. Ring the nearest television station, document people in your surroundings, create a short film or as a general advis to all areas, work with what’s available, at least you’ll have done something productive. Male sure you make a Plan and set goals, if not it’d be like building a house without a design..it wont work.
