New Bob Dylan DVD will explore the history and music influences of him

FASCINATING NEW EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT DVD, DOWN THE TRACKS, SHINES A LIGHT ON THE MUSIC THAT INFLUENCED BOB DYLAN

July 15 DVD Release Features Rare Clips Of Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Pete Seeger & More!

New York, NY (June 6, 2008)—Get ready for another incredible behind-the scenes look at a genius from Eagle Rock Entertainment, the same folks who bring you the Classic Albums and Live At Montreux DVD series. On July 15, 2008, Eagle is proud to announce the DVD release of Down The Tracks: The Music That Influenced Bob Dylan [pre-book date June 25, Retail Sales Price $12.98, Running Time 95 minutes].

Blues…folk…country…these are the genres of the artists featured—Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Pete Seeger, Reverend Gary Davis, Blind Willie McTell and more on Down The Tracks. Legends all, and they all had a major impact on the young mind and heart of Bob Dylan. Through archival performance tapes and interview footage amidst new interviews, an understanding is achieved on what went into the making of perhaps the most enigmatic poet of music the world has ever known.

Armed with an acoustic guitar, a few bucks, and a tattered copy of Woody Guthrie’s Bound For Glory, Dylan’s nerve, smarts, ambition and charisma netted him a small following amongst the intellectual folksters hanging out at Greenwich Village clubs. It didn’t hurt that he had an encyclopedic knowledge of artists and their songs from Seeger to Woody, from Jimmie Rodgers to Blind Lemon.

Even after he garnered his Columbia Records deal, his 1962 eponymous debut album, released when he was a mere 20, featured only two self-penned songs out of 13 (one of which was a poem for his hero, “Song For Woody,” with whom he visited during a pilgrimage to Greystone Psychiatric Hospital). On that legendary debut, Dylan covered Bukka White (“Fixin’ To Die”) Rev. Gary Davis (“Baby Let Me Follow You Down”) 18th Century New Orleans whorehouse folksong “House Of The Rising Sun,” “Man Of Constant Sorrow” (a Kentucky folksong from 1913) and seven other highly idiosyncratic interpretive restorations of ancient songs of the public domain. So it’s fitting that Down The Tracks pays homage to these legendary folk, blues and country heroes that so informed the early music of one Bob Dylan.

Eagle Rock Entertainment develops, acquires and produces music programming for a wide range of notable and high profile artists, which the company distributes on a worldwide basis. Eagle Rock Entertainment, Eagle Vision and Eagle Eye Media are wholly owned divisions of Eagle Rock Group, LTD.

HED PE Reveal Cover Art And Tracklisting For DIY Guys Live Album

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

(HED)PE Reveal Cover Art AndTracklisting For DIY Guys
2-Disc Live Album DVD

Southern California’s (hed)pe have revealed the tracklisting and cover art for their upcoming live album and DVD, “The DIY Guys”. The 2-disc set will arrive in stores on July 8, 2008 through Suburban Noize Records and the cover art can be seen online at http://www.hedperocks.com

"A lot of bands say their shit is live, but I know for a fact that they go in and patch things. Our band isn’t trying to provide our people with some polished piece of crap," says frontman Jared Gomes. "Our live shows are raw and explosive… Everything just is raw. When we play microphones might get unplugged or the guitars may go out of tune, but (Hed)pe is raw and unapologetic rock n’ roll."

(Hed) p.e’s explosive live show was caught on tape for the release of the group’s first live album and DVD release. The live CD portion was captured at Hollywood’s legendary Key Club where the band performed a mixture of classic (Hed) p.e tracks as well as new fan favorites from their latest studio album "Insomnia". The DVD includes 13 live tracks as well as music videos, behind the scenes footage, interviews and punk-rockumentary film clips from the band’s decade-long tour history.
Since joining Suburban Noize Records for the release of 2006’s "Back To Base X," (Hed)p.e has enjoyed a rebirth of grand proportions. While the group previously enjoyed success under the rule of a major label, since they gained their independence (Hed)p.e exploded into one of the premier groups in the underground and are now enjoying some of the biggest success of their career. The group’s latest studio album, "Insomnia" debuted at #138 on the Billboard Top 200, with the album’s lead single “Suffa” becoming of the most requested tracks at Sirius Satellite Radio’s Hard Attack. The song’s accompanying video was voted one of the Top 10 of 2007 on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball, beating out videos by Megadeth, Demon Hunter and Shadows Fall.
The DIY Guys CD/DVD is will also include new unreleased tracks from the band. The tracklisting is as follows:

Megadeth endures ’sh*t’ throwing fans in Edmonton during tour

Megadeth endures ’sh*t’ throwing fans in Edmonton during tour

A BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor by the name of Michael Fraser has submitted the following report:
"I attended Gigantour last night [Monday, May 12] in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Before MEGADETH even took the stage apparently someone threw a water bottle or some water on the soundboard. From behind the curtains someone (possibly [MEGADETH mainman] Dave [Mustaine]) got on a mic and told us that if anyone does that again they will not play.
[Note: According to another person who attended the concert, "It was the soundboard guy that went on the mic and announced, ‘If anyone throws anything else at the sound equipment the show will be cancelled so if you see anyone throwing any sh*t at the sound board, kick their f**king ass,’ [and] then the crowd cheered. What really pissed of the sound guy was that it hit the board then hit him and what looked to be red Powerade splashing all over the place."]
"After some more time, they [MEGADETH] finally hit the stage and after a few songs Dave addresed the crowd by saying he ‘knows it sounds crappy,’ but it was not there fault because the soundboard got fucked up. To be honest, it was so loud, I did not even notice the sound quality. After some more songs, he got on the mic again and said, ‘Look guys, I already have two shoes on, so don’t throw one up on stage.’ Pretty funny banter, but then he went on, ‘And if you throw any more shit up here, I will fuckin’ walk off this stage and go right back to my dressing room.’ Later, during ‘A Tout Le Monde’, two jackasses jumped the stage and ran over to him. They tried to put their arms around him and he shoved them away hard. Security finally got there and took them away. Now, to his credit, he did finish playing the song, but then without another word he took his guitar off and walked off stage. The band followed like 30 seconds later. The crowd was left wondering what the fuck was going on since the stage was still all lit up and no one came on stage to say anything. Finally, after 15 minutes, Dave came back on stage and starting bitching: ‘Why should I play for you?’ and what-not [see clip below], [and] finally he started playing again."
A registered MEGADETH forum member who goes by the name "kingmidis" posted the following report from last night’s show:
"Some dickhead threw a beer or something on the soundboard, thus making Dave, and I’m sure the whole crew, pissed off and on edge. Shit getting thrown on stage fueled the tension and at the pinicle, some dickheads ran across stage during ‘A Toute Le Monde’ causing the band to walk off stage for 20 or so minutes. (I presume during that time, Dave and co. kicked the fucking shit out of the guy who got caught on stage.)
"Dave comes back on stage to give the lowdown and chew out security. Gives a solid speech on the situation and the utter lack of respect it is to have shit thrown on stage/people get on stage. (Dimebag ref* to how things have changed) Then he says, ‘If you come on stage, I’m gonna get you!’ Needless to say he was pissed.
"BUT… for some reason, they played 100% perfect, full or energy and attitude the rest of the night. It was something to behold. Chris [Broderick, guitar] was crazy perfect, Dave nailed everything to a post, James [Lomenzo, bass] wins ‘Showman Of The Night’ award, and Shawn [Drover, drums] hammered it out like a sledge. Best MEGADETH performence I’ve seen to date… coupled with the worst crowd to date from the bullshit of almost causing the show to stop from the beer on the soundboard, to the throwing of shit on stage during performance, to the jumping on stage after fair enough warning from Dave about fucking around.
"I give mad kudos for Dave and co for coming back on and playing as killer as they did."
Fan-filmed video footage of Dave Mustaine addressing the crowd at last night’s MEGADETH concert in Edmonton can be viewed below.

What would you do if Paula Abdul or Bret Michaels were vice president of the USA?

May 14, 2008

What would you do if Paula Abdul or Bret Michaels were vice president of the USA?

Everybody’s making such a big stink about who’s going to be the next president. I’m wondering why hardly anyone is talking about who may or may not have the nation’s second-most-important job: vice president.

Obviously, it’s always nice when the person who’s only a heartbeat away from being the leader of the free world is qualified for the task. For example, the vice president sits behind the president during the State of the Union Address each year and has to resist the urge to lean forward and give the boss the ol’ devil horns. That’s important.

The vice president has other responsibilities as well, like going to funerals of people not quite important enough to warrant the president’s attention. The vice president also has to "… uh "… do other kinds of stuff too, I’m pretty sure. Like go to fancy dinners and not spill food down his shirt in front of important people. Which immediately disqualifies me, unfortunately, unless someone invents the vice presidential bib.

The vice president also gets to hide in bunkers when planes get too close to the White House, and oversee the vice squads of various cities as well. Well, it would make sense. He’s got to do something useful.

To gauge how important the job is, let’s review some of the great vice presidents. Let’s see, there’s the guy we have now, George W. Bush, who seems to be extremely busy implementing the policies of President Cheney. There was that guy a

few years ago who hangs out with celebrities and keeps getting Oscars and other awards for stuff. There was Gerald Ford, who managed to be both vice president and president without being elected to either job. Which probably makes him history’s greatest overachiever.

I’d like to get the ball rolling on a serious discussion of possible candidates. If we wait too long, all the good people might find real jobs and we’d get stuck with a guy like Harry Truman’s vice president. Actually, I have no idea who Harry Truman’s vice president was. Which just goes to show he probably wasn’t very good.

So how about:

  • Paula Abdul: This would be four years of nonstop family fun. The nightly news would become the greatest reality show in the history of the universe. America would be mesmerized, watching her stumbling about and putting the moves on young male interns while trying not to spill her drink. Just the confusion during public speaking opportunities would be enough to get my vote.
  • Bret Michaels: Imagine Vice President Michaels, driving his motorcycle through the Naval Observatory, asking his Secret Service detachment to "remain in this house and continue to rock my world." He’d try to rewrite the National Anthem, using bad cliches somehow relating sex to freedom, which would give the whole country reason to have a good laugh "… until it realized he was serious.
  • This guy I saw on YouTube who eats glass: I don’t know about his other qualifications, but invites to state dinners would become the hottest tickets in town.
  • One of my fish: I just bought this big koi, who keeps trying to jump out of the tank like he’s Flipper or something. We’re currently working on a flaming hoop trick. So he’s ambitious, has spunk, and follows directions. There are many realistic human candidates out there I’d be far less comfortable with.
  • Hillary Clinton: Heh-heh. Just kidding.

  • What Is Your Primary Way Of Attracting Women

What Is Your Primary Way Of Attracting Women
By Teddy Shabba Platinum Quality Author

When it comes to attracting women what is the primary way in which you attempt to attract women?

While the answer might seem obvious for some of you, many men might not realize what the best way to attract women is truly.

Before I give you the answer let me go over some of the more common ways men attempt to attract the type of women they want.

Bars and clubs - Perhaps the easiest and most common way men attempt to attract the women that they want is going to their local watering hole and quenching their thirst for confidence while waiting for the right time and right woman to arrive that they can attract.

Online dating - Provides you the most protection against rejection and gives you the most time to formulate your answer even though you never know who you are really dealing with until you meet her in person, which may or may not happen.

Hope - Even though it might appear to be the closest to the best way, it is actually the furthest away because at the point where hope is your best option you are essentially waiting for a woman to walk up to you and say "I really like you" which given your state of mind probably isn’t going to be a good thing.

Now that we’ve gone over some of the more common ways mend use as a primary means to attract the type of woman that they want, lets look at the way which is best for you to use,

Living your life in a way that you are getting what you want because you are doing those things that fulfill you with or without women.

It has been said over and over yet the more control you have over your own life the easier it is going to be to get the type of woman that you want because she is simply going to be an extension of everything else that you are achieving and getting in life.

Van Halen review says they lost magic but still rock solid

Van Halen review says they lost magic but still rock solid

ATLANTIC CITY - Overhyped events rarely live up to the accompanying anticipation. So when it comes to Van Halen’s overpublicized reunion with David Lee Roth, doubts certainly had to be raised if Eddie Van Halen & Co. could meet expectations.

The band’s sold-out show at Boardwalk Hall on Friday night proved that nothing - not even hearing Eddie rip into "Eruption" or Roth squealing to "Ice Cream Man" - could bring back the Van Halen rock fans adored more than 20 years ago.

Perhaps the main reason for the reunion’s semi-anticlimactic result is the fact that Van Halen and Roth never really went away, existing as lesser entities without each other. On the previous two outings in Atlantic City, Van Halen - once with Sammy Hagar, another with Gary Cherone - were mediocre to awful. And Roth has been in Atlantic City as a solo act as often as Tom Jones. Hype aside, though, Van Halen still puts on a hell of a rock show.

Entirely playing material from the band’s six albums from 1978 to 1984 - that’s right, folks: Thankfully, no Hagar-era tunes - Van Halen began the night with its memorable cover of The Kinks’ "You Really Got Me," setting the stage for a night of classic rock that was a rollercoaster of ups and downs with far more of the former.

It was difficult to resist fist pumping and singing along to VH classics like "Unchained," "Hot For Teacher," "Panama," "Jamie’s Cryin’," "And the Cradle Will Rock" and "Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love’."

The band even delved into some lesser-known tracks like "Romeo Delight" and "Mean Street" to please diehard fans, but few seemed interested in those offerings with the exception of "I’m the One," which had one of Eddie Van Halen’s strongest guitar efforts of the night. Roth even forgot the lyrics to "Atomic Punk."

Playing 25 songs for more than two hours, Van Halen rarely gave the crowd time to take a breath. In fact, the 13,000 stayed on its feet right to the final encore, "Jump." With a large video screen that stretched across the stage and a circular ramp that extended into the audience, there wasn’t a bad seat in the house. Roth hasn’t been able to hit his trademark high-pitched vocals for more than a decade, and Friday’s show certainly didn’t do anything to dispel that. But he is still an above-average vocalist who can handle the majority of his material quite well.

What Roth lacks in vocal prowess, he makes up for as an exciting frontman. Physically fit and possessing the energy of a prepubescent with A.D.D., the 53-year-old still commands the stage. It’s still fun to watch him throw a roundhouse kick, even if it’s much more grounded these days.

Diamond Dave’s smile is as white and wide and devilish as ever, and his penchant for over-the-top clothing still survives, as he wore a circus ringmaster’s coat with accompanying red top hat and tight black-leather pants. Believe it or not, Roth still pulls it off, possessing the physique of a ripped 20-year-old. His once long blond locks have been trimmed uncharacteristically short, but it works better than the balding ’80s rocker look he was holding onto as a solo act. Alex Van Halen remains one of rock’s top drummers, as evidenced by his impressive and surprisingly not overindulgent drum solo. Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang, is a more-than-competent replacement for longtime bassist Michael Anthony, but it’s certainly a disappointment to finally have this reunion happen without him. Anthony’s remarkable backing vocals were sorely missed, and the 17-year-old Wolfgang just doesn’t look right playing next to such older bandmates. Eddie Van Halen, who embarrassed himself performing at Borgata a few years ago, redeemed himself with a night of blistering solos that didn’t resemble the sloppy play he offered during his last Atlantic City visit. For the most part, he was the Eddie Van Halen everyone remembers.

Also 53, Van Halen finally lived up to his guitar-god status. Emerging with a long-sleeve shirt, ripped jeans and solid white guitar, his performance was vintage Eddie as he tapped and picked ferociously yet precisely, looking remarkably healthy despite all of his health issues.

It took more than 20 years for Roth and Van Halen to finally kiss and make up. But the wait was certainly worth it. If you closed your eyes, they still sounded like the band that diehard fans remember playing air guitar to in front of their moms’ mirrors.

Why are there top 10 reasons to avoid this new Coldplay album?

    April 21, 2008

Why are there top 10 reasons to avoid this new Coldplay album?

10 Reasons To Avoid The New Coldplay CD was a top story on Monday. Here it is again: (antiMusic) A week after being named the band most likely to put you to sleep, Coldplay revealed some new details about their forthcoming CD ‘Ambien CP.’ Wait, that was the code name for the project, it’s really going to be called ‘Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends’. We’re not making that up.

Frontman Chris "Ricky" Martin spoke with Billboard about the effort, "We’re still obsessed with making songs that can be sung to the rafters. We just wanted to present them differently." The CD title had a thoughtful back story* until they added the "or Death and All His Friends," which we’re not sure about the loca reason for that addition. Maybe he likes the conflicting statements. Like Apple to Orange?
